The NRMG Annual Business Meeting came back to in-person on May 5-7 at the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds in Helena — roughly 38 of us in a room together, which is the biggest gathering in a few years and the energy showed it. Presenters covered a full range: Dan Rogers on large cave rescue operations, Ren Gianforte walking through the Caveatron LIDAR rig, Doug Warner’s Friday-evening digital sketching session, plus talks on paleontology, karst conservation, and project updates.
On the business side: Zach stepped down as VP after a long run and we elected a new officer slate. The membership passed a motion titled “Motion to Cave. Lets cave.” by overwhelming consent. A separate joke motion to erect a statue of the Chairman on grotto grounds failed — correctly — though it got more votes than it should have.
The 2024 AGM is already confirmed for May 10-12 at the same venue. All the presentations from this year are now up on the YouTube channel.
